Project Status, Goals, and Schedule

January 2000 – December 2004
The construction of the substructure (foundation) began in 2000 and by December 2004, the substructure, columns, and the rear entrance stairways and the Auditorium stage of the first floor had been completed at the cost of 124,360 US Dollars The pace of work increased significantly with the appointment of a Funding Committee and a reconstituted Building Committee in December 2004.

January 2005 – December 2005
At the end of October 2005, the following additional work was completed; the main entrance stairways, one-third of the first floor slab (covering the roof of the Fellowship Hall area), and the roofed shell of the two-floor administration building all at a cost of 133,402 US Dollars raised through donations within the year.

January 2006 – December 2006
The interior and external finishing of the Administration Building was completed in time for the building to be opened during the 2006 ECK Regional Seminar in April 2006. This ceremony also commemorated the 30th. year anniversary of Eckankar Ghana Satsang Society. Thereafter, furniture, fittings and office equipment were procured and in December, the National ECK Center moved from its rented premises at 373A Nsawam Road Avenor Accra to the Administration Building at the Temple site. The amount raised for this phase was 69,527 US Dollars

January 2007 – December 2007
As at the end of July 2007, the remaining two-thirds of the first floor slab including the east and west walkway slabs had been completed, and the columns raised to the next floor level. The amount raised for this phase was 96,914 US Dollars. The nursery school area together with the fellowship hall thus provided a large seating hall for the 2007 ECK Regional Seminar which took place from August 3-5, 2007. Soon after the seminar, work on the next phase begun; the construction of the floor of the east and west galleries and meeting rooms was completed in December 2007 at a cost of 60,527 US Dollars from donations raised in November and December 2007.

January 2008 – December 2008
Construction works of the Entrance gallery and Conference Room were completed during the year, and the columns raised to the roofing level, ready to receive the Main Roof and the Ziggurat at a cost of 100,000 US Dollars.

January 2009 – December 2009
Construction works of the Roof of the Temple comprising the fabrication and installation of the angle iron trusses and purlings, and the aluminum roofing sheets, was completed at a cost of 120,000 US Dollars.


January 2010 – December 2010
During the year block work partitions of the second floor offices, installation of pvc pipes for plumbing services, electrical wiring for lighting, power, data, fire alarm and TV services for the second floor offices and classrooms were undertaken. Soft frames for aluminium windows and wooden soft frames for doors were also installed. Fence wall was constructed with sandcrete blocks and steel reinforced pillars. The biggest accomplishment of the year was the construction of the Ziggurat Roof over the Conference room/Chapel on the second floor. An amount of 116,000 US Dollars was spent during the year on the above construction works.

2011
The following works are envisaged to be undertaken during the year:
a). Plastering of walls of the second floor offices and classrooms, corridors and stairways
a). Ceiling of the second floor offices and classrooms and corridors
c). Screeding and tiling of all the floor spaces on the second floor and stairways
d). Plastering of all external walls and painting
e). Installation of metal railings on all walkways and stairways, including the fence wall
f). Installation of Aluminium windows and wooden doors for all offices and classrooms on the second floor.
g). Aluminium soft frames would be installed for doors and windows on the sanctuary floor.
120,000 US Dollars donations are expected to be raised for the construction works above.

It is the goal of Eckankar Ghana to dedicate the Temple of ECK Accra in August 2012 during the week of the ECK African seminar.
